Its a good time of year for us too as people who have a new kitchen, often have new flooring ! The most popular at the moment for flooring in downstairs areas is still the very populars Classic Travertine. The Ivory Travertine is also a popular choice for people who want a more consistent, lighter floor area.

The Ivory Travertine is also very popular at this time of the year as it looks superb in bathrooms ! Particularly if its put on the walls and floors, and used to give that wet room look ! It has a matt finish which means its great for the floors as its not as slippery as some of the polished tiles.

We are currently also busy with our Ceramic wall tiles for bathrooms, and our stunning granite tiles and marble tiles for all areas !!

Its great to see the Porcelain taking off too as, as already stated, we are now ‘approved suppliers’ for Porcelenosa !

We haven’t got any sale prices as we are already very competative. Not like ‘floors to go’ who are reducing their prices by 80% ! Shows how much they make in the first place for solid wood flooring thats of poor quality! Our solid wood flooring is proving to be another popular product for us with many very happy customers !!

Below is a company pfofile from their web site;

PORCELANOSA GRUPO IS PRESENT IN ALMOST 100 COUNTRIES

Today, Porcelanosa Grupo is a major reference on the Spanish and international markets, operating in accordance with firmly-consolidated values such as innovation and quality, and especially the trust it has placed in its extensive human capital, made up of almost 5,000 skilled professionals, and its ongoing concern for its stakeholders.

With more than 35 years’ experience, Porcelanosa Grupo is present in almost 100 countries worldwide, an achievement that is attributable to its unique business model, which forms the foundation for its strong, dynamic corporate strategy. A study published by Pricewaterhouse Coopers and the Financial Times has positioned the company amongst the most prestigious firms on the global scene.

Production diversification has played a key role in the growth of a business group that started off with the production of a single product: ceramic tiles. We have sold so much of this stone that when he came to place the order, we had no stock (just for about a week, 800m due in but a little late due to customs)!

We had the same travertine in 406 x 406 , but he wanted the larger tiles. A week later we got a phone call from him saying that he wanted the Ivory Travertine from us and would take the smaller tiles, but wanted them ASAP as he had tilers stood waiting for them. When I asked what had happened, he told me that he had gone to all the usual tile shops and the natural stone tiles were of very poor quality.

The travertine tiles were all commercialgrades with too much filler in them making them unattractive and also very weak. He eventually found some that looked similar to ours in Wicks. He took a sample and ordered the tiles. Great. HOWEVER, when the tiles arrived they were nothing like the sample, much darker that what he wanted and of poor quality. He sent them back and rang us straight away. We got the smaller tiles to him the same day and he was over the moon with them !

So much so, he had just ordered some more as he wants do go further in to a hallway which he was originally going to do in solid oak ! Lesson learned he said !!! Go to a supplier who only sells quality approved premium natural stone tiles such as Stone Sales UK in Sandbach, Cheshire !!!

Travertine is a natural form of stone mined in many regions of the world including Turkey, Peru, Armenia, Mexico, Iran and the United States. It is often sold in ‘tile’ format and is used in a variety of applications.

Travertine Natural Origin

Similar to limestone in origin, Travertine forms in the crust of the earth when warm thermal waters create pressure on the stone and wash away weaker natural elements.

Travertine Colour

Travertine tiles are generally sold in its natural earthy colours. These tend to include yellows, creams, greens and browns.

Travertine Texture

In its natural form, Travertine has a texture similar to Swiss cheese. Some travertine stones collect other natural elements in the holes, such as silica. These can crystallize and add variations in the texture.

The manufacturing of the stone means we can offer travertine in a variety of finishes, ranging from a shiny polished surface, to brushed finishes with a textured surface and then honed finishes with a matt surface. Stone Sales UK sales mainly honed and filled travertine.

Uses for Travertine

Travertine has a wide variety of uses and applications. At Stone Sales UK we supply Travertine to our clients to tiles their bathrooms, wet rooms, saunas, hallways, kitchens, conservatories, and so on !

Travertine Tile Sizes

Our Classic Travertine and Ivory Travertine comes in several sizes, the most popular being the 610 x 406, the 406 x 406 and the 305 x 305.

If you are going to use natural stone tiles for you projects then you will find there are lots of ‘types’ of stone to choose from. The initial part of your project is to decide on the type of stone that you like. Here are several different types of natural stone tiles that we can supply at Stone Sales UK

Travertine – If you like something natural but also contemporary, and you prefer neutral colours, then travertine is an excellent option. The colours of this stone are mostly neutral ranging from the Noce Travertine which is dark brown, through to our Classic Travertine which is a lighter beige colour with lots of swirls, to our stunning Ivory Travertine which is much paler. Travertine is a member of the limestone family and the honed and filled stone is very easy to maintain.

Granite – Granite is a great option that you have when it comes to natural stone tiles. This is one of the most popular stone tiles we sell due to its colour, quality and great price ! The granite we supply is installed in kitchens, conservatories, bathrooms, etc. and always looks superb !

Marble – Another great stone is marble. This is one of the most beautiful types of stone out there. There are various colours that you can choose from. However, you’ll find that it is sometimes a little more expensive than some of the other stones listed.

Slate – Slate is a great tiling option to consider for your project. This is a type of stone that is very versatile and durable. Various colours and finishes of slate are available from rivened which has the natural clefts in it to honed which is flat and smooth.
